A Fantastic Integrated Campaign

Die Bultfantasties music festival happened in Potchefstroom as part of the Aardklop Nasionale Kunstefees from 4 until 8 October and featured the premier acts on the South African rock and dance scenes.

Sponsored by music channel MK and Vodacom, Die Bultfantasties was a great success, and Don’t Look Down’s work on multiple media fronts leading up to, during and after the event certainly contributed to this.

Don’t Look Down sent a team down to Potchefstroom to manage the video and live social aspects of the event. This included the creation the Vodacom Unlimited Pop & Rock Facebook page in the run-up to the event, which featured an extensive info section with info-bytes on bands and a video playlist.

Throughout the five nights of the festival, this page was updated with line-up info, photos of bands performing and pictures taken in the Vodacom Color Unlimited Zone, where there were props aplenty on hand to create lively snapshots.

The page was also populated with embeds from a YouTube playlist consisting of post-performance interviews (shot and edited by the Potch team on-site) with seventeen of the major musical threats appearing at the event, from rockers Springbok Nude Girls, Karen Zoid and The Parlotones to delicious dance acts Flash Republic, Goldfish and Locnville.

The fantastic social media affront didn’t end there: Don’t Look Down also set up and managed the Vodacom_PopRock Twitter page, which previewed the event beforehand and kept festival-goers (and envious music fans elsewhere!) updated in real-time with all the happenings on the fabulous Die Bultfantasties stage (and off it), from performance highlights to Twitpics.

All of this added up to comprehensive social coverage of one of the most fantastic music festivals on the calendar.
