Idols Online + Exclusive

Don’t Look Down is managing the online content for M-Net’s massive reality singing show, Idols – the seventh time it’s done so in the show’s illustrious, decade-long run.

Idols VII premiered on Sunday 5 June and since then DLD has instituted a comprehensive cross-media (and cross-platform) content rollout plan, which includes an array of exclusive video footage.

During the nationwide Idols audition tour, the DLD team caught up with some of the alumni from Season 6, like winner Elvis Blue, runner-up Lloyd Cele, Sindi Nene and Adeline Mocke, and found out what they were up to and how being in the show had changed their lives.

The judging panel of Gareth Cliff, Randall Abrahams and new addition, Unathi Msengana, also sat down for our cameras and looked forward to the forthcoming season. Additionally we spoke to the guest judges in each of the four audition regions, which included South African music superstars Danny K, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Kurt Darren and HHP.

As the season progresses, the Idols website will feature plenty of exclusive weekly clips, from at-home interviews with the top contestants (in which they’ll reveal song choices and secrets, as well as perform off-the-cuff acoustic sets) to one-on-ones with all the guest judges and performers.

Additionally DLD have sourced and made available all the TV auditions from the first four regional episodes (including the worst ten in from each episode in the “Wooden Mic” category) and are uploading episode highlights, including all the performances, shortly after each show.

This vast collection of online viewing will be supported with an intensive, cross-platform publishing campaign that take in website articles, features and pictures, regular Facebook links and polls, and regular updates to the @IdolsSA Twitter page, including live tweeting during each show.
