The Voice SA, a brand new challenge!

The Voice SA

We rolled into 2016 with a bang as the inaugural South African version of The Voice was launched on M-Net.

The Voice South Africa centres on the search for the nation’s new big star. The search for that one person with that special something, a real first class act with the ability to stick around and deliver their very own unique sound.

Four coaches; Bobby van Jaarsveld, Kahn Morbee, Karen Zoi dand Lira personally selected their own candidates during the exciting Blind auditions then paired two of their team members to Battle for a spot in the Live Finale rounds.

Having worked on the Blinds and Battles pre-records with the production team over December, it was time for the Don’t Look Down digital team to show off some of the amazing content they had put together. From exclusive interviews with the coaches, talent, hosts and audience to close monitoring of the recordings and getting to know the talent better, the rich content was ready for SA’s consumption.

Starting from the bottom, with zero social media platforms and fans, the team worked tirelessly to ensure that the show trended every week. By the halfway mark of the show, Twitter and Facebook were on 36K, Instagram on 9K and YouTube on 12K subscribers with over 8Million total views.

The team also created Facebook fan pages for all 56 talents that made it through the Blind Auditions and briefed them on social media etiquette. The huge audience means huge responsibility for the DLD digital team as not only South Africa but the whole world has caught The Voice SA bug.
