After a 4-year journey from proposal to reality, and after having completed the last of many project milestones on the way to live, including taking the talent to the people at Maponya Mall earlier this month, we are days away from the first live broadcast of a star-studded new event, dedicated to celebrate and showcase the diversity of talent in South Africa.

2017 marks the year of the first ever DStv Mzansi Viewer’s Choice Awards, Don’t Look Down’s latest convergence of event, broadcast and digital entertainment for an M-Net channel brand and its platform, DStv. The project is sponsored by 1Life, Kia and Vodacom.

The Awards, which are designed to showcase the diversity of content across all channels on DStv, will be televised live on Mzansi Magic and will see trophies handed over in ten wide categories to winners selected by more than a million audience votes. A Special Recognition Award will also pay tribute to an individual whose outstanding contributions have directly influenced the local entertainment industry.

Don’t Look Down’s production team is applying itself to every detail of the hospitality experience from arrival to departure with the assistance of V3 Strategic, including a live Red Carpet broadcast before the main show, to the main awards show staging and transmission; along with an after party designed to delight.

While the production team has pulled out all the stops to ensure the evening is nothing short of magical, not just for the attendees but also for the multitude of viewers across the country who will be tuned in, Don’t Look Down Entertainment’s digital team will be keeping the online audience abreast of all forthcoming and live developments via the Mzansi Magic website and social media.

After the success of Don’t Look Down’s production of the M-Net 30th Birthday Celebrations, which included Trevor Noah as holographic host, the creative teams are in the process of unifying talent, staging, lighting and sound into the final schedule, ahead of switching focus to the and show-running and proceedings, presented by Bonang Matheba, along with a top class line-up of performers, the inaugural presentation is gearing to be a spectacular addition to South Africa’s entertainment landscape.

Don’t Look Down Entertainment’s digital strategy for Mzansi Magic and its partners, continues to amplify awareness for the Awards, after driving record breaking voting numbers and distributing a wealth of exclusive content to bring audiences closer to this memorable night.

The events are live from the Sandton Convention Centre on 26 August, on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) beginning with the 19:30 Red Carpet special, before the main event commences at 20:30.
