DLD’s 6th Digital Execution of Survivor SA

The sixth season of Survivor South Africa launched on 3 May 2018 and Don’t Look Down went above and beyond to give fans an interactive and immersive experience of the show.

Profiles of all the castaways, which included videos, articles, exclusive interviews and an up-to-date indication of which tribe castaways belong to or if they’ve been voted out or onto the Jury, were included on M-Net’s website.

In partnership with Huawei, Mahindra, Bio-Strath, Cape Union Mart, Steers and DStv, viewers stood the chance of winning great prizes by entering the weekly viewers’ competition as well as choosing their favourite Survivor South Africa: Philippines castaway.

Fans were also treated to a unique 360 VR experience, in partnership with Huawei. This feature allowed the user to explore the island through Virtual Reality technology, making for an immersive Survivor experience.

Over the course of the season, Don’t Look Down brought viewers closer to life on the island by sharing highlights, exclusive interviews with evicted castaways, a weekly diary with host Nico Panagio and Lifehacks – a series of videos in which Nico gives viewers tips on how to ‘survive’ without certain household items.

There was also previously unaired “Secret Scene” and vote reveal footage to explore as well as Ponderosa interviews with the Jury for an even better look behind the Survivor curtain.
