DLD’s 2nd DStv MVCA Convergence is underway

Following 2017’s successful introduction of the DStv Mzansi Viewer’s Choice Awards (DStv MVCA), Don’t Look Down is currently in production with the second star-studded special event and live broadcast from the Sandton Convention Centre, set for 24 November, with returning sponsors, headliner 1Life, and Kia Motors, joined by new partner, Castle Milk Stout.

The South African talent showcase will see the return of Bonang Matheba as host, along with a myriad of guest presenters and performers. A new category Favourite Personality has been added, bringing to 11 the number of categories that viewers can vote for. The nominee with the most votes out of all the categories will be named the DStv Ultimate Viewers’ Choice, joining the 1Life Life Changer and the DStv MVCA Legend Awards, which are not subject to direct audience votes.

DLD’s event and broadcast team will once again produce the entire range of requirements from event compliance through technical delivery of a suitable evolution of the creative excellence that delighted audiences and earned critical acclaim for the project’s debut. The active integration of the digital into the conception of the project however, extends the opportunity beyond a siloed on air execution and directly into DLD’s ultimate strength, a 360 degree execution capability unlocked by synchronisation with DLD’s digital team.

DLD will again ensure that viewers are immersed in the DStv MVCA experience in the months-long lead-up, during the event itself and after the fact.  This synchronised strategic approach to all digital platforms involves the conceptualization of a detailed plan, which includes the launch, nominee announcements, the integration of sponsors, channel and platform requirements, and a thorough social media schedule designed to keep viewers up to date, build consistent momentum and develop the highest possible levels of anticipation of the live show – and the results it will present.  The necessary range spans from complex communication between all parties involved to the planning and production of digital features included red carpet footage, after party exclusives, interviews and a 360 degree view of the event.

2018’s DStv MVCA has also joined the many other major television series, like Idols SA, Dancing With The Stars South Africa, by integrating the engagement points and vote management system DLD launched for all M-Net shows in late 2017.  This audited system is designed to only prohibit any tampering or manipulation of data; but also to enable unique audience insights earned by the expanded opportunities to vote: for free via the Mzansi Magic site, which DLD also manages; via SMS and a new USSD feature.

The event will be simulcasted live from the Sandton Convention Centre on 24 November 2018 on Mzansi Magic and Mzansi Wethu.
