Extending The Voice SA Entertainment Experience

Season 3 of The Voice SA kicked off on the 3rd of February 2019 with the Blind Auditions, a brand-new host, Anele Mdoda, and new coaches – multi-platinum selling rapper, Riky Rick, vocal power-house, Riana Nel ,and rebel rock star, Francois van Coke who joined returning coach and afro-soul diva, LIRA.

Don’t Look Down has digitally developed and managed all engagement platforms and content for this production, and our team have gone the extra mile to deliver carefully curated online experiences for supporters of the show.

Coverage began during production with extensive behind-the-scenes content teasing the sets, stage, talent and coach fashion, and creating exclusive site interviews and interactive social clips for rollout in real time during broadcast.

A highlight of the new season for online viewers has been an integration with video platform, YouTube, in our The Voice SA website. This has allowed for crisp and clear, full-HD playback for highlights and exclusives at 50 frames a second, edited and shared during the live broadcast. Live interaction during viewing is also possible through YouTube polls and cards. New to our website has also been the launch of an infinite scroll feature that automatically populates related content (article or video) once the first is completed.

DLD has made use of new tools in our live rollout including clickable Twitter video card previews of performances, and boosted conversational cards choosing their favourite coaches, with custom tweets being auto-generated after a selection is made. This bolstered engagement and contributed towards Twitter trends regularly before live shows began, and towards website views. Use of Instagram story highlights has also proved effective for keeping fans engaged and seamlessly directing them back to the website for an extended experience.
