Vodacom Unlimited Festival

Featuring DJs like the Grammy Award-winning Louie Vega and internationally-acclaimed South African spinners like Black Coffee and Culoe De Song, plus a performance from pop phenomenon Liquideep, the Vodacom Unlimited Festival looks set to re-imagine the way South African audiences experience House music.

The unprecedented event – which is produced by Don’t Look Down – happens on Friday 1 April at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto and boasts the richest roster of DJs the country has ever experienced. Among them are the aforementioned Louie Vega, who won a Grammy in 2006 for his remix of Curtis Mayfield’s “Superfly” and a DJ who has just about mapped out the course dance music has taken in the past twenty years, either as remixer (for the likes of Madonna and Janet Jackson), as band member (in the excellent Elements Of Life collective) or alongside Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez (under aliases including Masters At Work, KenLou and Nuyorican Soul).

He’ll be sharing the booth with some super-hot South African talent, including Black Coffee, the Durban-born DJ/producer who’s taking the global scene by storm with his deeply distinctive tribal beats (and who’s released cuts on highly-regarded international labels like Louie’s Vega imprint), and “Fairytale” pop success story Liquideep, who will turn in a dose of their highly melodic, hook-laden dance sound. Watch the video above (from the 2010 Channel O MVAs) for a taster of these acts’ talents.

Other overseas big-hitters on the roster include France’s Rocco, a member of the amazing Rodamaal plus an esteemed producer in his own right, with smash records out on labels like Freerange and Defected. Also representing Europe is Germany’s Ralf GUM, whose GOGO Music label has been home to tracks by the likes of Black Coffee and who released the massive tune “Kissing Strangers” in 2008, which was the best-selling house track of year at ultra-credible download store, Traxsource.

The esteemed South African names sharing the booth with these legends are Vinny Da Vinci and DJ Christos (aka DJs At Work), two of the pioneers of the now-massive local deep house sound; Tim White and DJ Strat3gy (House Afrika); Culoe De Song (Soulistic Music and Innervisions, Germany); DJ Fresh (Big Dawg); Maestro (aka Greg Maloka) and DJ Tira.

Prepare for an event unrivalled in scale – a dance party that’s unparalleled: the Vodacom Unlimited Festival is a not-to-be-missed, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Tickets for the Vodacom Unlimited event are R100 and are available from 17 March from Computicket only (no tickets will be sold at the door).
