Big Brother Angola begins

Big Brother Angola kicked off on 25 May and it is a first of its kind project for DLD. While the company has worked on numerous Big Brother shows previously, from Big Brother Africa to Big Brother Nigeria and Big Brother Mzansi, Big Brother Angola is different because it is entirely in Portuguese, broadcast in Angola, and extended to the Portuguese bouquet in South Africa.

Portuguese speaking team members from both Mozambique and Portugal, alongside South African colleagues, keep the 24/7 show updated on its multitude of online and new media platforms: the website, mobi site, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WeChat, and a live 24/7 message strap scrolling across the bottom of TV screens.

Working on behalf of DStv Digital Media (DStv DM), the website is continuously updated with a variety of content by a dedicated team: videos of key events, highlights from the Live Eviction Shows, exclusive exit interviews with ousted Housemates, articles, profiles on the Housemates, guests and presenter, and images from the House and Live Eviction Shows.

Everything from the website is disseminated across its official social platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WeChat. The updates are all unique per platform. This is also the first time Instagram has been used for a Big Brother Show, allowing the already active audience to engage with the strong visual element.

The message strap on TV screens also pulls messages from these platforms, and a team of social moderators continuously filter what is coming through, and publish only the most interesting and appropriate of messages.

The show’s success continues to grow.
