DLD at Silwerskermfees 2016

Kyknet Silwerskermfees 2016

The kykNET Silwerskermfees, also dubbed as the Cannes Film Festival of South Africa, came to an end with a highly anticipated awards ceremony on Saturday.

Don’t Look Down got movie lovers closer to the action by bringing them exclusive behind the scenes content.

The Silwerskermfees awards bridge several categories, such as direction, performance, score and production design – covering short films, full length and documentary films.

This year’s four-day event, the festival’s sixth birthday, was once again hosted at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay and lured many major role players in the local film industry, as well as members of the public.

Many films (whether entered into the competition or not) had their premiere at the festival and there were fifteen commissioned short films on the menu.

The festival also encouraged both established and aspiring filmmakers to take part in dialogue sessions and Silwerskermfees offered a space for artists to collaborate and embrace the future of Afrikaans films.

Having access to the talent, Don’t Look Down produced digital content featuring exclusive wrap-up videos and interviews, news and photos for kykNET’s website and Silwerskermfees’ social media platforms.

Followers of @SilwerskermFees on Twitter and the hashtag #Silwerskermfees2016 were among the first to hear the latest news and get a first-hand account of the awards ceremony on Saturday.
